A licensed psychologist who has spent his career helping people understand themselves better — and the last eleven years doing psychological and psychoeducational assessment right here in this community.
Background
Trained to test. Trained to listen.
I hold a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Ball State University, with an emphasis in multicultural counseling, and completed my APA-accredited internship at the University of Missouri. Before opening Hillsborough Psychological Services, I spent eleven years in group practice in Hillsborough conducting psychological and psychoeducational evaluations — ADHD, autism, learning disorders, and complex diagnostic questions — for children, adolescents, and adults across Orange, Alamance, and the surrounding counties.
My training is as a counseling psychologist, and it shows in how I test. Assessment, done right, is not a verdict delivered from behind a desk — it's a collaboration. I hold Level 1 Certification from the Therapeutic Assessment Institute in the collaborative model developed by Stephen Finn, and that stance runs through every evaluation I do, whether or not a family chooses the full Therapeutic Assessment. I've also completed Level 1 and Level 2 training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and am a certified Bringing Baby Home Educator — training that shapes how I think about the families and relationships every evaluation lives inside.
The people who come to me have usually been carrying a question for a long time. Many have been dismissed, or minimized, or told it was nothing.
What I can offer is simple and, I think, rare: I will take the question seriously, test it carefully, and give you an honest answer in language you can use. A diagnosis, when there is one, isn't the end of the story — it's a roadmap, and often it's the first confirmation that what you've been living with is real and not in your head.

I do the work myself
Every interview, every test session, every report — one psychologist, start to finish.
I say what I see
Including when the answer isn't the one you came in expecting — and including when the honest answer is "this isn't the right evaluation for you."
I finish the job
Findings explained face to face, in plain language, with recommendations built from what's actually intact and strong — not just what's hard.
The name & the place
Where the river meets the road
Hillsborough exists because two paths crossed. The Great Trading Path — an Indigenous trading route that colonists later followed through the Piedmont — forded the Eno River here, on land long traveled by the Eno and Occaneechi peoples. When the surveyor C.J. Sauthier mapped the town in 1768, he drew what was already there: a river running west to east, a path crossing it, and a settlement at the meeting point.
The mark of this practice is that map — the Eno's meander, the Trading Path's dashes, a compass pointing north. I chose it because it says what I believe about this work:
Being lost doesn't mean you can't find your way back. Sometimes you just need someone who knows the territory to help you take a bearing.
